Aechmea fasciata 'Primera'
Aechmea has beautiful flower and foliage with a smooth edge. These are indoor plants and can add good color and texture to your indoor garden. When placed in filtered sunlight or outside you can water it thoroughly but indoor plants need to be water carefully to avoid any rots or mosquitoes due to peculiar leaf shape and structure of Aechmea.
Soil: Aechmea requires crumbled, porous and well-drained plant media to grow. Soil should be well-drained and good water holding capacity.
Water: Aechmea is a water-loving plant. It needs frequent watering. Water on every alternate day is advised.
Climate: It is a tropical plant. Grows well under partial to full shade. Filtered sunlight is needed for good growth and flowering.
Aechmea can be used for a flower bed or an individual pot plant indoor. It is valued for its magnificent flowers which lasts for 15 to 30 days when in bloom. It can be grown under trees as well.
Care and Maintenance:
When not in flower, the plant needs consistent care. It gives many suckers from its stem, which can be separated and planted in new pots or the whole plant can be repotted when it outgrows the pot.
