Plant Requirement:

Soil: Zamia can grow from nutrient-poor to rich soil. Soil should be well-drained, and rich in organic matter for good growth and development. The leaves become dark green, lustrous, and healthy if soils are good. The pH of the soil should be 6.5 to 7.5.

Water: Zamia doesn't require much water as compared to other plants. The pot plants can be watered twice a week. Under high humidity conditions, you can skip watering and only apply to keep the soil wet. Always keep plants at the dry side.

Climate: It grows under full sunlight to full shade conditions. It requires minimum amount of sunlight and can grow indoor lights as well. The ideal temperature required is 18 degrees Celcius to 42 degrees Celcius.

Garden Use: Zamia is most preferred as a pot plant. Its clean, green, and easy to go image allows it to feet at any nook and corner. Providing a tropical landscape effect, the cardboard plant’s mounding growth habit is ideally suited for use in containers or as a specimen. Several can be planted together for a lush, tropical effect. They also create a dramatic effect when mass-planted in a shrub border, eventually reaching six or eight feet tall. Plant on three to five-foot-centers to create a mass planting.

Care and Maintenance:

Nutrition: Zamia is poor feeder plant. It can be fertilized once or twice a year.

Protection: Zamia doesn't attract any pests or diseases. Over-watering may cause rotting of the basal leaves. It can be easily prevented by balancing water ad light.

Horticulture Operations: Repotting is advised once in a year. If plants are outgrown, it can be separated and planted in a new pot.
